Villa di Tirano

Villa di Tirano is a peaceful (but also very lively) village in the heart of Valtellina. Here in the north, it feels like stepping into a film rich in history, with children playing in nature, young and old caring for the mountains and its gifts with great sacrifice, elders speaking in dialect, passing on ancient knowledge and traditions, and grandmothers gathering the family with a hearty dish of pizzoccheri and a good glass of wine.

This small village offers genuine local products grown by local families, such as apples, wine, flour, eggs, milk, and cheese. Restaurants, small shops, supermarkets, bars, and patisseries are just minutes away from Dimora.

The Pian Gembro Nature Reserve, an ancient Alpine peat bog, is waiting to be discovered, as are the Via dei Terrazzamenti, the Wine Route, and the cycling and walking path called Sentiero Valtellina, which stretches over 120 kilometers.

Just a 5-minute drive will take you to Tirano, a small town known for the famous Sanctuary of the Madonna di Tirano and the Bernina Express, which has become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is an excellent location to explore with its historic buildings, shops, and many traditional restaurants.

Other places to visit include Teglio, the birthplace of Pizzoccheri, Sondrio, Valchiavenna, and, an hour away, Bormio, Livigno, Lake Como, and St. Moritz.

To reach Villa di Tirano, it takes just over two hours from Milan Malpensa, Bergamo Orio al Serio, and Zurich airports. For those who prefer not to drive, there is a train from Milan Central Station, passing through Como and Varenna Esino, to reach us. Trains are also available from Switzerland, starting from Zurich, Chur, and St. Moritz, then taking the Bernina Express to Tirano.

From Tirano, you can reach us by taking the train from Tirano to Villa di Tirano, the bus, a taxi, or a 40-minute walk immersed in nature.
